Design Studio

London

Our design studio, in the City of London, exemplifies our approach to design. Set in a former 19th-century tannery, we trod a careful line between conservation and renovation when we re-designed the ground-floor space. The original oak floors and restored beams were kept, but we also introduced light by adding the glazed, Crittall screens which divide the space. There is a sample area where we discuss fabrics, flooring, joinery textures or paint finishes with clients - all lit by the natural light which floods in through a wide window. The open kitchen, with a long table for communal meals, and antique furniture, add to the studio’s welcoming but functional atmosphere.

“I wanted the space to feel open and airy and reflect our design aesthetic. It was important to me that it felt serene, comfortable and welcoming – almost domestic in feel but very inspiring to work in.” Murude
